HISAR – As the Kharif 2026 sowing season approaches, the Cotton Section of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU), Hisar, has issued a critical advisory for cotton farmers. After evaluating 99 different hybrids based on their seed cotton yield and resilience, the university has officially recommended a select list of 46 Bt Cotton (BG-II) hybrids. This annual certification process aims to protect farmers from low-quality seeds and ensure maximum productivity across the region’s cotton belts.
University experts have categorized the recommended hybrids by their sponsoring companies to help farmers make informed purchasing decisions. Among the most prominent recommendations are those from Rasi Seeds Pvt Ltd, which features a robust lineup including RCH 773, SHAKTI 9, RCH 791, RCH 605, RCH 650, and RCH 776. Notably, RCH 846 and RCH 951 have been highlighted for their inclusion in the university's official "Package of Practices," marking them as top-tier choices for local conditions.
Ankur Seeds Pvt Ltd also maintains a strong presence on the list with varieties such as ANKUR 3244, ANKUR 3228, ANKUR 5642, and ANKUR 555, with the "Raghuvir" hybrid also receiving the university's special endorsement. Similarly, Mahyco Pvt Ltd offers a wide range of approved options, including the MRC series (7041, 7301, 7365, 7361) and the VICH series (310, 309, 308), providing farmers with multiple high-yielding alternatives.
Other significant contributors to the 2026 list include Nuziveedu Seeds with their NCS 9002, 4455, and 9024 hybrids, and Kaveri Seeds Pvt Ltd with KCH 999 and KCH 172. For farmers looking toward Super Seeds Pvt Ltd, the university has cleared SUPER 721, 544, 971, and 965. Additional recommended varieties come from Prabhat Agri Biotech (PCH 5678, 876, 9602), Ajeet Seeds (ACH 133-2, 33-2), Seeds Works (SWCH 4768, 4750), and Pravardhan Seeds (PRCH 7799, 333).
The university's Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding emphasizes that these 46 hybrids have been scientifically validated to withstand common biological stressors better than unlisted varieties. By sticking to these recommendations, farmers can better mitigate the risks posed by pests like the Pink Bollworm and Whitefly. Officials urge all cotton growers to purchase seeds only from authorized dealers and to insist on a formal bill to ensure they are getting genuine, university-approved BG-II technology
