JAIPUR: In a significant move to support the farming community, the Rajasthan government has announced a major relaxation in the rules for the procurement of wheat at Minimum Support Price (MSP). Farmers in the state are no longer mandated to go through the complex "Slot Booking" process to sell their produce.
Previously, farmers were required to book a specific date and time slot online before bringing their wheat to the government mandis. This often led to technical glitches and prevented many farmers from selling their crops on time. To simplify this, the government has now allowed farmers to reach the procurement centers directly and get their registration verified on the spot.
Revised Procurement Period: The wheat procurement process in Rajasthan started on March 16 and will continue until May 31, 2026.
Bonus for Farmers: This year, the Rajasthan government is providing an additional bonus of ₹150 per quintal. This brings the total MSP to ₹2735 per quintal, offering better financial returns to the farmers.
Relaxation in Quality Standards: Due to recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms, the government has also relaxed the quality norms for wheat that may have lost its luster (Luster Loss), ensuring that affected farmers do not face losses.
While the mandatory slot booking has been removed, farmers should keep the following points in mind for a smooth experience:
Registration: Online registration via Jan Aadhaar remains mandatory.
Required Documents: Farmers must carry their registration form, a copy of Girdawari (land record), and bank account details to the center.
Local Coordination: It is advised to stay in touch with local procurement centers (RAJFED/FCI) to avoid heavy crowds and long waiting times.
According to the Food and Civil Supplies Department, the primary goal of removing the slot booking requirement is to eliminate technical hurdles for farmers and ensure they receive their payments as quickly as possible. The state aims to maximize procurement this year to provide the benefit of MSP to every eligible farmer.
